A guide to Glastonbury Festival

With the April ticket resales lurking for this years Glastonbury Festival many may be humming and harring over whether it is the festival for you. As it is the final batch of tickets, the numbers are limited and so you want to be certain before you go ahead and pay £200 for yours, so what better than a Glastonbury picture guide?

To read the information that goes with each photograph click the 'Show info' option on the top right of the screen.

Seem like the festival for you? If so I would definitely go for it as it is well worth the money if you love your music and can handle mucking it for five days.

Electronical Beauty

Last week whilst visiting a friend in Cardiff, me and my closest friends all got over excited about the fact that the club we were going to played just dubstep all night long. So much so that one of my friends claimed the music was so good that he had lost his brain (and no, he wasn't on drugs.)

Whilst watching Magnetic Man in the live lounge for Radio 1 I was struck at how, with the exception of the three musicians playing strings, the four men involved were not playing instruments but instead stood behind Apple Macs as their instruments. Fiddling with DJ mixer boards and tapping away at their macs they created the songs that we know and love. The power these laptops have to compose and store these sounds, beats and melodies is beyond my mind.

Yet it opens a new door up for music genre's, with dubstep only hitting the music scene around the early 2000's and now reaching the clubs across the country since about 2009 enticing many of us into loving this new style of music.

It is also surprisingly versatile, despite many believing this electrically based sound is only for clubs and raves. Songs such as Flying into Tokyo by Magnetic Man keep the electronic bass line, infusing the melody with violins to create a beautifully relaxing song.

Dupstep is an exciting new sound that I am definitely backing.
